3 Reasons to Be Grateful for Vegans

It’s no secret that going vegan is becoming more popular. From celebrities to professional athletes, many people are trading in their chicken drumsticks for a colorful plate of vegetables and vegan friendly foods. While many people think that going vegan is all about dieting and weight loss, it goes way beyond dietary needs.

When you go vegan, you are not only doing great things for your body, but you are doing great things for the planet as well. That’s why we are thankful for all the vegans in the world. Here are a few reasons you should be thankful for vegans too!

They save the planet- Being a vegan has a positive impact on Earth. It conserves water, saves energy, reduces pollution, and protects our soil. If you want to find out more about how being vegan can help you protect the planet, you can visit http://www.peta.org and learn more about veganism and how you can help.

They promote longevity- If you follow anyone who has adopted a vegan diet, you will notice they all have something in common. They all credit their vegan diet to having more energy, feeling healthier, and even dropping a few pounds! It’s no surprise to discover that a vegan diet is beneficial to a healthy lifestyle. There have been numerous studies that showed the benefits of going vegan. Many studies have reported a vegan diet has the potential to do the following:

  • Reduce the risk of heart disease

  • Reduce the risk of certain types of cancers

  • Lower high blood pressure

  • Support bone health

  • Manage & control insulin levels and/or diabetes

  • And so much more

In fact, one study showed that being overweight is bad for the environment. It noted that obese or overweight individuals are most likely responsible for carbon emissions since they consume more food and fuel. By going vegan, many people can benefit from weight loss. They will be helping their overall health as well as the environment.

They save animals – Animals are more than animals; they are family. Whether it’s a pet chicken, pet rabbit or pet pig, animals need love, attention and affection too. There are hundreds of different animals that bring joy to any home. Many animals that are raised for human consumption are not handled with the best care. When a person chooses to go vegan, they reduce the amount of demand for meat, which in turn, helps protect the environment. There are many organizations that save hundreds of animals per year and deliver them from being raised in harsh environments.

While there are many other reasons to be grateful for vegans, you can start with these three. So, next time you see a vegan thank him or her for their impact they have on our environment and making this world a more sustainable place to live in.
