4 Simple Ways to Build Meaningful Relationships That Last!

In the age of social media, virtually everyone tends to think sending a friend request is the new way to build relationships. However, relationship building goes way beyond sending and accepting friend requests, connections, and followers.

When it comes to relationships, they take time, energy, dedication and commitment to work and last. So, it begs the question: How do we build solid relationships that last? Here are a few things you can do to build solid professional and/or personal relationships.

1. Offer value- Anyone can hand you their business card, but a serious person will offer some way to help you. Whether that’s introducing you to a joint venture partner, making recommendations for a new staff member, or simply providing you with information. A person that offers value is more likely to be remembered than a person who is trying to take from you. See how you can offer value in someone’s life today.

2. Be a great listener- In many cases, people like to talk about themselves a lot. Instead of talking, listen to what is being said. Listen to their likes, dislikes, frustrations and what keeps them up at night. The more you listen, the more you will understand. And the more you understand, you will be able to help them.

3. Be authentic- There’s no sense in trying to act like someone you are not. The truth is, not everyone will share the same views and opinions as you, and that’s okay. You just have to find the people who you resonate with the most. However, the more authentic you are, people will be drawn to you like magnets.

4. Be a great friend- When you think of your best friend, what comes to mind? Someone who genuinely cares for you, loves you unconditionally, and wants to see you succeed. There’s no hidden agenda. When you are building relationships, you must be a great friend and become genuinely interested in what others are doing to show that you care.

Relationships are a two-sided friendship. What you expect others to do for you, you should willingly return the favor. Solid relationships can lead to:

• Greater opportunities • Achievement of goals • Extraordinary experiences • Great resources

So, the next time you see a potential friendship, invite that person to lunch and get to know them- and that can be the start of a meaningful relationship. What are you going to start doing to start building a solid relationship today?
